Karnataka Grama One

Grama One Karnataka is a one-stop shop started by the Chief Minister of Karnataka on January 17, 2022, through which all government services and facilities will be made available to the citizens of the rural areas of the state on a single platform. Under this initiative, centers will be set up at the village level, with the help of which the rural citizens will be able to get the benefits of all the programs and services related to the government. The state government has also launched an official portal related to this program named gramaone.karnataka.gov.in portal. The centers set up under the Karnataka Grama One initiative will be open every day of the week from 8 am to 8 pm, so that citizens can visit the centers at their convenient time and avail government facilities as per their need.

• With the smooth operation of this initiative, rural citizens will not need to visit any government office at any level in the district to get various government services and facilities, thereby preventing migration of rural people to taluks and district centers.
• This will save both time and money of the citizens and will also get rid of middlemen, which will also bring transparency in the system.
• Sewa Sindhu services, RTI, CMRF, Micro banking services, Aadhar update, Sakala services etc. will be made available to citizens at one place through the centers set up under this initiative.
• Under this initiative started on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day, opportunities have been provided to young graduates for setting up centers, which will also generate thousands of employment opportunities in the state.
• At present, this initiative has been implemented in a total of 12 districts of Karnataka and according to the officials concerned, this program will also be implemented in the remaining 10 districts of the state by the financial year 2022.
• So far 100 villages of the state have been covered under this initiative and in the coming time, the government will inaugurate 300 Grama One Centers by implementing this program in the remaining 10 districts.

Objective of Karnataka Grama One

The main objective of Grama One Karnataka, started by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on 26 January 2022 on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day, is to provide benefits of various government programs and initiatives to the rural citizens of the state on a single platform. Under this initiative, centers will be set up to provide all government services at the village level to the people of rural areas. Through these centers migration of villagers to Taluk and District centers will also be prevented, which will save both time and money of the villagers as well as bring transparency in the system. The state government has also started a portal related to this initiative, named gramaone.karnataka.gov.in portal. Karnataka Grama One Required Technical Facilities

The centers to be set up under the Karnataka Grama One initiated by the state government will have a special division with a separate entrance. The minimum area of ​​one such center set up under this initiative should be 100 square feet, which will be a center with only one counter. Along with this, there should be a basic facility of four chairs, parking arrangement, counter table, operator chair, printer table, customer waiting chair for the customers to sit at the centers. Service Charges to be levied under Grama One Karnataka

Benefits and Features of Karnataka Grama One

• Karnataka Grama One Centers was started by the Karnataka State Government on 26 January 2022 on the auspicious occasion of 73rd Republic Day of India.
• Under this initiative, a one-stop shop will be created for all citizen-centric activities at the village level, through which the benefits of the services of various government ministries will be made available to the villagers.
• Through these one-stop shops i.e. centers, the benefits of various rural government services will be provided under one roof, so that now citizens will not need to visit government buildings and offices at different district levels to solve their issues.
• This will also prevent migration of people from rural areas to taluk or district centers to get government services.
• Along with this, citizens will get rid of middlemen, which will save both their time and money as well as bring transparency in the system.
• At present, this initiative is being implemented in 12 districts of Karnataka and soon it is being planned to be implemented in other districts of the state.
• These 12 districts are Bidar, Koppal, Bellary, Belgaum, Haveri, Vijayapur, Davangere, Shimoga, Tumkur, Chikkamagaluru, Udupi, Kodagu.
• About 100 services related to revenue, food, health and labor departments will be made available to the villagers through these centers, including continuous electricity and internet facilities.

Eligibility Criteria for setting up a Karnataka Grama One

Such interested citizens who want to set up the center under the Karnataka Grama One started by the state Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai, they have to fulfill the following essential eligibility criteria:-

• The candidates should be a permanent resident of the state of Karnataka to set up the center.
• To set up the center, candidates will need to have a bachelor’s degree as well as computer knowledge.
• Along with this, the candidates should be financially able to invest an amount of 1 to 2 lakh rupees for setting up the center.
• Candidates will have to submit the Police Inspection Certificate to open the center.
• In addition, the candidates will have to set up the center centrally in the main village center, so that the centers are easily accessible to the citizens.
